Check out the Acer Aspire V5 laptop from Ebuyer which usually retails for £280 but can be had for £250 after a £30 cash back from the retailer.
The laptop, Acer claims, is 30 per cent thinner (at 23mm) and 10 per cent lighter (at 2.3Kg) than your average laptop, making it almost as thin and light as an Ultrabook. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and a free upgrade to Windows 8 which is worth £14.99 by itself.
Other features include an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor (a Pentium 967) clocked at 1.3GHz with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive, a 15.6in display with a 1,366x768 resolution, a webcam, a numeric keypad and an island-style keyboard.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GbE port, one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, VGA/LAN combo ports, HDMI and a card reader. That Pentium 967 is actually a speedy beast with a TDP of only 17W, 2MB L3 cache and an Intel HD Graphics video subsystem. Note that unlike most Ultrabooks, this one does have an optical drive.
