Meet the Ricoh SP100e from Japan. This tiny laser printer looks a lot like an inkjet one and is priced just like one at less than £30 at Ebuyer, a price that even includes free delivery, a drop of more than £40 from its suggested retail price.
At this price however, don’t expect miracles. The printer delivers a set of fairly robust printing features but nothing more. It prints at 13 pages per minute and has a resolution of 1,200x600 dpi. Its first page is out in 13 seconds with a warm up time of 25 seconds, helped in part by the 16MB of RAM.
Other notable details include a 50-sheet standard paper capacity, USB connectivity and a monthly duty cycle of only 10,000 pages. The printer only runs on Windows and Ricoh managed to cut the weight of the printer to 6.2Kg and shrink its dimensions to 40x37x12cm.
As expected, the price of the toner is exorbitant compared to the price of the printer at £50 which is not that much environment-friendly. Note that Ebuyer also sells a multi-function version of this laser printer which costs £55.
