TomTom updates HD Traffic feature, now five times more accurate

TomTom has launched a new traffic information service in the UK to help drivers more accurately avoid traffic jams and road works.

The feature, named HD Traffic 6.0, is five times more precise than previous editions and fifteen times more accurate than other Traffic Message Channels (TMC) used by other navigators, according to the sat-nav company.

In addition, TomTom also claims to detect road blocks and road works, even if they haven't been reported by official sources.

TomTom's HD Traffic service, which updates as you drive, was recently accredited by leading technical services organisation TÜV SÜD Group for the accuracy and precision of its traffic jam information on motorways and main roads.

The HD Traffic 6.0 is now available as part of TomTom LIVE Services on its sat-nav devices as well as the TomTom iOS and Android apps.

TomTom recently updated its iOS app to take full advantage of larger screen of the iPhone 5.
