Panasonic Eluga dL1 cleared out at £155

The Panasonic Eluga dL1 was released in February 2012 but failed to get any momentum in the UK market. It hasn’t to our knowledge gone on sale at any mobile phone operator in the country and is currently being cleared out, as a SIM free device, at Expansys for a mere £155, making it one of the best smartphone deals of recent times.

The handset comes with a dual-core system-on-chip, a TI OMAP4430 model clocked at 1GHz with 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 4.3in 960x540 pixels OLED display, an 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording capabilities and it weighs a mere 103g. At just 7.8mm thick meanwhile, it measures up almost the same as the iPhone 5.

What’s more, it includes NFC capabilities, IP57 certification which means that it is water resistant (and water proof up to 1.5m) and dustproof as well. The handset ran on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but has been upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS.

We did however identify a few shortcomings including the lack of a flash for taking pictures, poor battery life and GPS performance and the omission of a microSD card slot. Check out our review of the Panasonic Eluga dL1 smartphone.
