Fuhu Nabi 2 children's tablet down to £145

Popular toy retailer Smyths has discounted the Nabi 2 tablet to £144.99 after a £5 discount when entering the code 600255 at checkout.

What strikes anyone that handles this device first is the massive colourful case that protects the tablet - it is clearly aimed at making sure that children have a good grip on their digital toy and that the tablet is properly protected against wear and tear.

On the inside, the tablet is made up of a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 system-on-a-chip clocked at 1.3GHz and supported by 1GB of RAM. The Nabi 2 features 8GB of on-board storage, a microSD card slot, a 7in 1,024 x 600 pixel capacitive display, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a 2-megapixel front facing camera with HD video recording. Rounding things out is an HDMI socket, USB ports and the user-friendly Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating.

The unique selling point of the tablet is its proprietary child-friendly App Zone 2.0 marketplace, which includes more than 500 apps approved for kids. Nabi says its vetting process ensures a “tried, tested and approved grouping of apps hand-picked by our community of moms and dads”.

In addition, 25 free games, 50 free songs and 30 free books have been pre-loaded onto the tablet. Nabi also says that it will bring Google Play market and Netflix to the device soon, but its no slouch without these additional features - we did a review of the Nabi 2 tablet and gave it an 8 out of 10 score.
