Before the Nokia Lumia 620 arrives towards the end of January 2013, the cheapest Windows Phone 8 smartphone is the HTC Windows Phone 8S and this smartphone is on offer at BuyMobilePhones for a mere £10.50 per month on a two year contract with an upfront fee of £70.
This is by far the cheapest contract we managed to track for this handset with a total cost of ownership of £322, around £100 more than the cost of the handset on its own. The deal include 100 minutes and unlimited texts with no internet access, ideal for a light user that has access to Wi-Fi.
As for the phone itself, it is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip with 1GB of RAM, 4GB onboard storage (with a microSD card slot), a 4in 800x480 Super LCD touchscreen with a layer of Gorilla Glass, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and HD video recording, Beats Audio technology and a 1,700mAh battery.
The HTC Windows Phone 8S (check out our hands-on) was released at the same time as its bigger brother the HTC Windows Phone 8X, a few months ago, during a built-up that culminated in the official launch of Windows Phone 8 towards the end of October.
