Buy the Dell Inspiron 15R laptop for just £399 including VAT and delivery, thanks to a Dell discount - not bad for a laptop that might look dull but offers a lot of value. The deal is available until 3 January 2013.
The Inspiron 15R is similar to this more expensive Zoostorm laptop, which we glanced at earlier this month, and should provide with a much smoother experience than the Packard Bell Easynote model with AMD inside.
There are six colour schemes to choose from and, like most recent laptops, the Inspiron 15R runs Windows 8. Under the bonnet, there’s an Ivy Bridge-based Intel Core i5-3210M processor clocked at up to 3.1GHz with 3MB L3 cache and two cores.
Other features include one year next day in-home hardware support, a 15 month subscription to McAfee SecurityCenter, 2GB online backup, 6GB RAM, 1TB 5400RPM drive, a DVD writer, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 6-cell 48Whr battery and more.
Unfortunately, the Inspiron 15R is no Ultrabook. It is noticeably thicker than Dell’s own Ultrabook model while being around 30 per cent heavier. The Inspiron 15R range was introduced earlier this year and you can read a review of its bigger brother, the Inspiron 17R Special Edition, here.
