Sony Xperia P smartphone now down to £140

Sandwiched between the entry level Sony Xperia U and the Sony Xperia S is the Xperia P, which is on offer from Chitter Chatter, a T-Mobile retailer, for £150 including a £10 top-up. The smartphone could give the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini a run for its money, given that they both share similar hardware. The phone originally retailed for more than £300.

Housed in a full aluminium unibody is an STEricsson Novathor U8500, a dual-core system-on-chip clocked at 1GHz. There’s also 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage (but no microSD card slot), a 4in 960 x 540 pixel Retina Display with Mobile Bravia and WhiteMagic technologies.

Other features include Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, mini HDMI, microUSB, Timescape UI, DLNA compatibility, NFC, Wi-Fi, 3G, an 8-megapixel camera with full HD video recording, a VGA front-facing one, a 1305mAh battery and up to 6 hours of talk time. Unless you have an allegiance to a specific smartphone brand, Sony's Xperia U and Xperia P hit two major sweet spots for customers looking for devices that can perform decently, sport mid-range features and don't cost an arm and a leg.
