Toshiba’s Satellite Pro L850-1DT laptop is on sale at Zavvi, which is part of the Hut Group, for a mere £299.99 - that’s a saving of £150 off its suggested retail price and includes free delivery.
The laptop has a meaty Intel Core i3-2370M processor, one which is clocked at 2.4GHz, has two cores, is based on the Sandy Bridge architecture and 3MB L3 cache.
There’s 4GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB), a 500GB hard disk drive (spinning at 7,200RPM), a non-reflective 15.6in HD LED backlit 366x768 display, a DVD writer, Bluetooth 4.0, Intel HD Graphics 3000, GbE LAN, Wi-Fi, a numeric keypad, HDMI out, VGA, multi-touch touchpad, a card reader, a 1-megapixel webcam, three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0, and Windows 7 Home Premium rather than Windows 8.
As expected, the laptop is quite thick at 33.52mm but just slightly heavier than an Ultrabook at 2.3Kg. Toshiba has thrown in a number of its own applications (Eco Utility, PC Health Monitor, Tempro, Disc Creator) together with some third party ones (Microsoft Office 2010 Starter, Skype, Nero BackItUp etc).
