£899 Sharp LC60LE636E: A 60in television that’s (very) big on features

It’s impossible not to be impressed by the Sharp LC60LE636E - not only by its sheer size but also by its price, a mere £899 at high street retailer John Lewis for the next two weeks. The television comes with free delivery and a five-year warranty included.

It uses LED backlighting technology, has a 1,920 x 1080 pixel resolution, a Freeview HD tuner, Dolby Digital Plus, DLNA, Wi-Fi, four HDMI ports, a memory card, SCART, Smart TV capabilities, two 10W speakers (plus a subwoofer) and three USB 2.0 ports.

What’s more, its 60in diagonal means that its bezel is relatively thin, which translates into an even more immersive visual experience, especially when hung on a wall using optional wall mounting brackets. Bear in mind, though, that this is a massive television set weighing 33kg - not surprising, given its size.

Desire worked at ITProPortal right at the beginning and was instrumental in turning it into the leading publication we all know and love today. He then moved on to be the Editor of TechRadarPro - a position he still holds - and has recently been reunited with ITProPortal since Future Publishing's acquisition of Net Communities.
