£300 LG 42PW450T: A 42in 3D television that suffers from a fatal flaw

Check out the LG 42PW450T television if you plan to view HD content in 3D. This HD ready plasma set can only display 1,024x768 pixels which is 2.5 times less than a full HD model.

It is available though from Argos Outlet via eBay for a mere £300, a price that includes free delivery, one year warranty and 300 Nectar points. LG has also thrown in a pair of 3D glasses. That’s down by around £100 in 18 months.

The TV’s main features include a 107cm diagonal, a 600Hz refresh rate, a 400cd/m2 brightness, three HDMI ports, DVI, PC and SCART sockets, component video and composite sockets, a USB port, an Ethernet connection and Dolby Digital sound, fairly impressive for a model that retails for less than £300.

The 42PW450T consumes a whopping 131W when in use and 300mW in standby mode. If 3D is not of any interest to you, there are always cheaper models (like this Panasonic 42in full HD model) on offer although stocks are fluctuating.
