Sony Xperia S for £10.50 per month: A cheaper way to get hold of a superb smartphone

The Sony Xperia S smartphone was launched less than one year ago at MWC in Barcelona and was back then Sony’s top of the range handset.

It can now be purchased for as little as £10.50 per month on a two year contract from Tesco Phone Shop on O2, that’s a total cost of ownership of £252. The package includes 50 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB data bolt-on which would be adequate only for very light users.

Note that the Telefonica-owned mobile phone operator will unlock the phone for free for you on demand and that O2 Pay Monthly tariff prices will rise from 28 February 2013.

The phone comes with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage but no microSD card slot, a 4.3in 1,280x720 Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a 12-megapixel camera, Playstation Certification, a HDMI port, NFC, a front facing camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread (upgradable to Android 4.0 ICS).

Desire worked at ITProPortal right at the beginning and was instrumental in turning it into the leading publication we all know and love today. He then moved on to be the Editor of TechRadarPro - a position he still holds - and has recently been reunited with ITProPortal since Future Publishing's acquisition of Net Communities.
