ITProPortal has sneakily managed to grab a couple of pictures of Acer's yet-to-be-announced upgrades to its Timeline M3 and Aspire S7 Ultrabook series. The new models which haven’t been named yet come with new display panels.
The Timeline M3 gets a 15.6in non touchscreen panel with 2,880x1,620 pixels (that’s 4,665,600 of them) while the Acer Aspire S7 will get a 2,560x1,440 touchscreen panel (3,686,400 pixels).
Oddly enough, the spec sheet next to the laptop on display mentioned an 11.6in screen rather than the 13.3 model that currently equips the Aspire S7 which can either be a type or the indication that Acer will introduce another SKU.
These upgrades will mean that Acer Ultrabooks will have the highest resolution in the Windows-based PC ecosystem.
Apple still remains the top dog with the MacBook Pro Retina with a 15.6in model sporting a superior 2,880x1,800 pixels thanks to a different aspect ratio compared to the Timeline M3 and the smaller 13.3in model having a 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution.
We haven’t been able to track down availability or pricing for the new products and whether they will replace or complement the existing models.
