£225 Asus X401A laptop: An affordable yet capable device

Argos is selling the Asus X401A laptop for only £225 on its eBay outlet. It is a refurbished laptop, that looks a lot like an Ultrabook, sports a blue colour scheme, comes with free delivery and 225 Nectar points.

The X401A is powered a dual core Intel Celeron B815 processor, is clocked at 1.6GHz and has 2MB L3 cache. This Sandy Bridge part also comes with an Intel HD Graphics video module and no, it shares next to nothing with the old Celeron parts.

Its 4GB of RAM and a massive 320GB are a rarity at this price point. The rest of the specification is well balanced as well.

There’s a 14.1in 1,366 x 768 pixels display, a webcam, Altec Lansing speakers, up to four hours battery life, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, a weight of 2.1Kg, three USB ports (including a USB 3.0 one), a card reader, a VGA port, a Gb Ethernet and a HDMI port.

Other features unique to Asus laptops include the IceCool technology, Asus Super Hybrid Engine II (that allows 2-second resume), SonicMaster Lite audio technology and a rather attractive design. Note that this laptop runs on Windows 7 Home Premium rather than Windows 8.
