£379 LG 50PA4500: UK’s cheapest 50in Plasma TV

Electrocentre is selling the LG 50PA4500 50-in HD ready plasma TV set for a mere £379 including free delivery. Note that Amazon also offers the product as refurbished for £367. The device has a class B energy efficiency rating and consumes a not-so-negligible 130W when on (but 300mW on stand-by).

Other notable features include a built-in Freeview tuner, two HDMI ports, VGA, one USB one, Dolby Digital, a 3D Digital comb filter, a CI Slot, SCART, Triple XD Engine technology plus an Intelligent Sensor technology from LG that allows the TV to find the optimal brightness, sharpness, colour and contrast.

It also sports a 600Hz refresh rate that minimises motion blur, making it a great set for high speed sports and movies, a resolution upscaler, two 10W speakers, a thin bezel and has a 1,024 x 768 resolution, the lowest of its category but enough for 720p content.

In a nutshell, it won’t win any awards when it comes to sheer performance or display quality. But then this was never its aim; instead, the 50PA4500 fulfills its role as a decent entry-level large screen display very well.
