£70 HTC Salsa: A Facebook smartphone that comes with a dedicated button

The HTC Salsa was one of the first devices on the market to have a dedicated blue Facebook button. But that didn't prevent the device from being a relatively modest seller.

The phone was released back in 2011 and is now being cleared out for £70 by eBay seller, cheapest electrical, with free delivery and 70 Nectar points.

The device, also known as the C510E, has a single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227 SoC clocked at 800MHz, a 3.4in 480 x 320 pixels display, a 5-megapixel camera, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot and a 1520mAh battery that allows users to talk for up to 10 hours.

As expected, it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC’s Sense user interface. Amongst other notable features are a mostly-metal chassis and a front facing camera.

Should you miss out on this deal, just be aware that Asda is also selling the HTC Salsa for £79. We reviewed the handset in July 2011 when it was still available for £375.

If you are brand agnostic and are on O2, then the Alcatel One-Touch OT983 might be a better alternative since it is cheaper, has a bigger screen and a much better processor.

Desire worked at ITProPortal right at the beginning and was instrumental in turning it into the leading publication we all know and love today. He then moved on to be the Editor of TechRadarPro - a position he still holds - and has recently been reunited with ITProPortal since Future Publishing's acquisition of Net Communities.
