Until the end of the month, you will be able to buy Microsoft’s Windows 8 Pro for only £24.99. From February onwards, the price of the operating system reverts back to its suggested selling price of £185.
Note that you will only be able to download it at this price; otherwise, you will have to fork out nearly twice that amount for a physical media shipped to you.
Microsoft insists that you will need to have either Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7 in order to upgrade. So in theory, even if you were to buy a brand new OS, you would still be quids in.
System requirements include at least 2GB of RAM, a 1GHz processor, 20GB free hard drive space, a 1,366x768 pixel resolution. Surprisingly enough, Microsoft sells Windows Media Centre’s license separately unlike previous versions and you may have to fork out up to £50 to get it.
