It's all kicking off in the smartphone world today.
Just hours after Amazon outed the Sony Xperia Z's price and release date, HTC has confirmed it is holding a blockbuster independent launch event ahead of Mobile World Congress this February.
The HTC M7 has previously been tipped with a pre-MWC unveiling, so you don't have to be an expert on the Higgs boson particle to figure out that while it's not named explicitly, the Chinese firm's next flagship handset will inevitably take centre stage.
According to the invites mailed out by HTC, the event will be held on February 19 in London and New York - less than a week before MWC gets underway in earnest down in Barcelona.
The HTC M7 is the follow-up to 2012 flagship the One X and rumours point to a snazzy device featuring a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 4.7in Full HD (1080p) display, and Android Jelly Bean. Other hotly tipped specifications include 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel primary camera, and 4G LTE support.
