O2 is selling this great looking smartphone for £80 excluding a £7.50 top up. The Sony Xperia U was unveiled at Mobile World Congress almost one year ago and is already a bargain basement model.
If you want a brand new model, Virgin Media sells it for £110 which includes a £10 top up gives you access to unlimited landline calls and 120 mobile minutes for 30 days. In both cases, the smartphone is locked to the respective networks.
The Xperia U is by far the best smartphone under £100 as far as our records show. It is the only one with a dual-core SoC (the ST-Ericsson U8500 clocked at 1GHz) and the only one with a resolution above WVGA (854 x 480).
The rest of the feature include an illuminating transparent element, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, 512MB of RAM, 4GB onboard storage, a 3.5in Reality Display screen that uses Sony’s own Mobile Bravia engine, Sony xLoud technology, Android 2.3 Gingerbread but no microSD card slot.
