BuyMobilePhones sells the 16GB version of the Apple iPhone 5 for as little as £20.50 per month on a two year contract with an upfront fee of £150.
That’s a total cost of ownership of £642 or an effective monthly fee of £26.75, which is the lowest we’ve found for an iPhone 5 and an absolute cracker bearing in mind the cost of the phone alone is £529. This means that you’re paying around £113 for the Orange Panther 20 plan alone.
As one can guess, it will only be useful for a light user. It comes with 100 minutes, unlimited texts, 500MB data, Free BT Openzone Wi-Fi, One Swapables, Magic Numbers and Orange Wednesdays.
The iPhone 5 was launched late last year and comes with an Apple A6 chipset, a 4in Retina display, an 8-megapixel camera with full HD video recording, Apple’s new EarPods, iOS 6, ultrafast wireless plus a much thinner profile. Check out our review of the Apple iPhone 5 here.
We’re surprised that Apple has allowed the average contract price of the iPhone 5 to fall so rapidly; this wasn’t the case for previous models which, to some extent, could be explained by more aggressive competition.
