Orange offers 1GHz Android smartphone for £20

Get £30 off a new phone when you spend £60 on Orange’s Ready Deal 60. This also gets you £10 automatic top up every month for six consecutive months as well as all of Orange’s extras like Wednesdays, Tiny top ups, Magic Numbers, reserve tank, cheaper landline broadband and calls and more. You don’t get any swapables though.

Now you can use this offer to bring down the price of the Alcatel One Touch OT983 down to £19.99 (the total price you pay is £79.99). That is a cracking deal given that the phone itself is probably the best smartphone under £70; note that you should also be able to use it on T-Mobile.

The OT983 comes with a single-core SoC clocked at 1GHz, not unlike the original HTC Desire. There’s also a 3.5in 320 x 480 pixel display, 512MB of RAM, 512MB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, up to 8.5 hours talk time and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Other entry level smartphones included in the offer are the Xperia Tipo and the Samsung Solid Xcover. Note that O2 also sells the Alcatel One Touch OT983 for £50 plus a £7.5 top up.

Desire worked at ITProPortal right at the beginning and was instrumental in turning it into the leading publication we all know and love today. He then moved on to be the Editor of TechRadarPro - a position he still holds - and has recently been reunited with ITProPortal since Future Publishing's acquisition of Net Communities.
