Following several weeks of rumours, Dell confirmed today that it is going private in a deal worth $24.4 billion (£15.5 billion). The buyout will take the Round Rock, Texas-based company off the publicly traded stock market, leaving it instead under the ownership of its founder, chairman and CEO Michael Dell and investment firm Silver Lake.
