PC World sells the HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-B052SA at £430 for a brand new model and £370 for a refurbished one; both are available in Ruby Red. It is called a Sleekbook (and not a notebook) because it doesn’t fulfill all the necessary conditions to get that label.
It ticks the boxes when it comes to the size (21mm thick and a weight of 2.1Kg for a 15.6in laptop), the processor (Intel Dual Core i5-3317U clocked at 1.7GHz with a Turbo Boost of 2.6GHz and 3MB L3 cache) but doesn’t include a SSD.
Instead, there’s a massive 750GB hard drive spinning at 5400RPM. Other features include 4GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Windows 8, a 1,366 x 768 resolution, three USB ports (including two USB 3.0), Wi-Fi, Ethernet, HDMI, Bluetooth, Altec Lansing speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio, HD Webcam, 4-cell Li-Ion (which can power the laptop for up to eight hours), a full size keyboard, a numeric notepad, Mini Display port and a card reader.
HP also included its ProtectSmart technology that protects our data from accidental knocks, Coolsense which adjusts laptop’s temperature, Support Assistant, HP Music and more.
