Panasonic has announced that it is appointing a new managing director to oversee its UK operations. Andrew Denham, a longtime executive with the company, will replace 32-year Panasonic veteran Keith Evans as of 1 April 2013.
Before becoming the Japanese firm’s European brand strategy director last year, Denham was in charge of its consumer marketing division for the UK and Ireland. During his tenure as brand strategy director, he was responsible for Panasonic’s Olympic marketing strategy and for the company’s continent-wide brand decisions.
“It’s an exciting time at Panasonic, we are expanding our products and services every year and are committed to enhancing the lives of our customers far beyond the living room into all areas of the home and beyond. Through our business customers, we’re also enhancing people’s experiences in the areas of automotive, retail, avionics and energy. I look forward to building our UK market presence, working closely with all our partners,” he said.
Outgoing MD Evans has held the position since 2008, before which he served in a handful of different capacities at Panasonic.
“I have done most of the jobs in the company,” he told the Sunday Times last year.
“I would like to thank Keith for his tremendous support to Panasonic over the years, and to welcome Andrew to his new role," said Harris Soejima, European MD of Panasonic’s consumer marketing division.
“Andrew’s sure grasp of Panasonic’s strategy and deep understanding of the consumer are exactly what we need to build on the excellent foundations of record sales and market share as laid by Keith,” he added.
