£26 Sony Xperia Z smartphone: now with free £299 headset and unlimited minutes

It is not the first £26 deal we’re seeing for the Sony Xperia Z, the company’s latest top of the range smartphone. However this one comes with a very nice freebie, a pair of headphones that Sony claims are worth a whopping £299, more than half the price of the smartphone on its own.

Compared to the AffordableMobiles offer we saw yesterday, this deal is on O2’s On and On and has an upfront fee of £100 (which means a total cost of ownership of £724). You get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB data plus free access to Wi-Fi hotspots.

The phone – which is available from 28 February – comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.5GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 5in 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, a 13-megapixel camera with Exmor RS technology, a microSD card slot, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage and 4G compatibility.

The phone is also one of the very few to sport a sub-8mm profile and it is also dust proof and water proof. Check out our hands-on the Sony Xperia Z (which takes over the Xperia T) at its official launch in Las Vegas at CES earlier this year.
