The Archos 101 XS was unveiled back in August 2012 and when it went on sale later during the year, it carried an SRP of £299 with a bundled coverboard that doubled as a snap-on keyboard. We reviewed the Archos 101 XS tablet and found out that it had a disappointing display and below par hardware specs.
But now, the tablet has gone on sale for just over £225 at Lambdatek, a price that excludes any credit card fees or shopping and pricing. That’s a saving of almost 25 per cent.
The Archos 101XS comes with a dual-core TI OMAP4470 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 10.1in 1,280 x 800 resolution, a HD webcam, GPS, USB 2.0 and mini HDMI out and a battery life of up to eight hours.
It will be interesting to see whether the French device manufacturer unveils a version of this tablet that runs on Microsoft’s Windows RT. Also worth noting is the fact that the Archos 101 XS has a smaller and cheaper little brother as well, called the Archos 80 XS, which costs around £55 less and has half the onboard storage.
