£430 Novatech nFinity N1409 Ultrabook; now without operating system

Have a look at the nFinity Ultrabook N1409 from UK retailer Novatech if you’re after an Ultrabook.

It costs £430 without operating system and £505 (with Windows 8) which means that you will be able to install Linux (or your own Windows license) and save a bundle. It is one of the very few ODM Ultrabooks models that we’ve seen on the market but is up there, designwise with the best.

It runs on an Intel dual-core Core i3-3217U processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 3MB L2 cache. There’s a 14in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, 4GB of RAM, an Intel 520 Cherry Ville SSD with a 120GB capacity, Intel HD Graphics 4000 video solution, a webcam, one USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, Wi-Fi, a card reader and up to seven hours battery life.

With a thickness of less than 20mm and a weight below 2Kg, this laptop will be very well suited for those looking for a low-key, yet very capable Ultrabook.

Other rivals at that price point include the Acer Aspire S7-391, the Acer Aspire S3, the Fujitsu Lifebook UH572 and the Dell Inspiron 15Z.
