£169 Archos 80 XS Gen10: The cheapest hybrid tablet in the UK yet

The Archos 80 XS tablet is on sale at lambda-tek for only £169 excluding delivery. A bigger version of that hybrid tablet was unveiled in August last year and got a decent rating when we reviewed it later that month.

The Archos 101XS carried a suggested retail price of around £300 and yet you can now pick up its smaller brother for just over half that price.

It uses the same fibre material that is binded to a strong metal frame with a paper-thin steel bezel to yield a chassis that’s a mere 8.9mm thick and a tablet that’s just 560g.

The Archos 80XS has a 1,024 x 768 8in display, that’s the same resolution of the iPad Mini and the iPad 2. It uses the MVA technology which, Archos says, produces deeper blacks, better colours and greater contrasts.

It manages to surpass both when it comes to the system-on-chip used; one clocked at a whopping 1.6GHz with quad-core GPU.

There’s also a unique Coverboard which not only protects but also provides with a full size QWERTY keyboard and a stand.

Other features include 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a microUSB port, a mini-HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
