Sony Xperia Z smartphone available from £499 with £52 Amazon Voucher

Amazon is selling the Sony Xperia Z smartphone from only £499. This is a SIM free model which will be launched on 1 March and will come with a £50 Amazon voucher as well as £2 to try out Amazon’s downloads store. The smartphone is also on sale at Asda for the same price but with an array of accessories worth more than £100.

The Xperia Z was unveiled in January 2013 at CES in Las Vegas (check our hands on of the smartphone here). Its main feature is a magnificent 5in 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display. Its screen uses the Mobile Bravia 2 technology and has a pixel density of 443ppi, much higher than the iPhone 5.

Sony also included two other technologies, OptiContrast and Direct Touch that improve the screen readability in bright sunlight while making sure the screen looks black and enhances control capabilities.

Other features include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, the S4 Pro, clocked at 1.5GHz with an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 13-megaixel camera with Exmor RS technology, HDR and noise reduction, a glass fibre polyamide frame, water and dust resistance and LTE capabilities.

It replaces the Sony Xperia T and the the Sony Xperia S as the flagship smartphone at Sony’s.
