£250 LG Optimus 4X HD smartphone: A cheap alternative to the Galaxy S3

Online retailer BuyMobilePhones is selling the LG Optimus 4X HD smartphone for only £250, unlocked and SIM Free, which is the same as the other deal from TheOrder except that this one is brand new.

It is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC. That’s a quad-core model clocked at 1.5GHz. There’s also 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a 4.7in IPS display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution, a microSD card slot and Android 4.0 ICS.

The LG Optimus 4X HD has roughly the same configuration as its two other well-known competitors, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. The first one retails, brand new, for around £350 while the second can be had for just under £300.

The other rival to these three is the Google Nexus 4 which has twice the amount of RAM and Jelly Bean plus a newer system-on-chip, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro.

LG has already announced a brand new flagship smartphone, the LG Optimus G pro which is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC and has a full HD display.

It will go head to head against the Sony Xperia Z, the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is widely expected to launch on 15 March.
