MWC 2013: Mozilla introduces the first batch Firefox OS apps

New details about Mozilla's Firefox OS have been released by the company, placing it a step closer to finally joining the cut-throat mobile OS competition.

Information on the software front was confirmed, with the first batch of apps including expected selections like Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud and AccuWeather.

Games will include popular titles such as "Cut the Rope", "Where's My Water", "Where's My Perry" and others from EA. Overall, only a small number of apps were revealed, though the long-term success of the Firefox OS will heavily depend on getting more key apps into the store.

The software giant also named its wireless carrier partners – Firefox OS will be available on a total of 18 carriers including América Móvil, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Hutchison Three Group, KDDI, KT, MegaFon, Qtel, SingTel, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia Group, Telefónica, Telenor, Telstra, TMN and VimpelCom.
