John Lewis sells the Samsung NP300X3D-A01 Ultrabook, the company’s top of the range model, for £850 including two year warranty and free delivery.
The laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5-2537M processor clocked at 1.4GHz. This is a Sandy-Bridge model with two cores and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU.
It has a 13.3in 1,600 x 900 pixel display, a GbE port, a webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, 4GB RAM, a 128GB SSD, a card reader, Windows 8, two 1.5W speakers, HDMI, two USB ports, Wi-Di and it weighs only 1.16Kg.
As expected from an Ultrabook, its chassis is made of premium material (magnesium) and it also boosts a fast-start function (capable of waking up from sleep mode in 1.4 seconds) and a battery life of more than eight hours, with Samsung promising that its advanced battery technology will triple its lifespan.
Samsung has also supercharged up the display which now has a 400nit brightness and comes with an anti-reflective coating.
Other notable features include an enhanced multi-touch touchpad that supports up to 21 types of gestures and better palm rejection as well as a number of bundled applications (WildTangent, Cyberlink etc).
