Twitter has announced that Android and iOS users will no longer be able to access TweetDeck on their mobile devices beginning in May 2013, meaning the popular social media dashboard app will exist only as a web-based service.
The company announced in a blog post that it is also shutting down the AIR version of TweetDeck for Desktop and withdrawing support for Facebook integration, as it grows its focus on developing its web and Chrome apps.
"In many ways, doubling down on the TweetDeck web experience and discontinuing our app support is a reflection of where our TweetDeck power-users are going. Over the past few years, we've seen a steady trend towards people using TweetDeck on their computers and Twitter on their mobile devices," the company wrote.
"To continue to offer a great product that addresses your unique needs, we're going to focus our development efforts on our modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck," read the blog post.
