Head over to Asus’ online outlet to grab one Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the TF201, for a mere £399, a price that includes free delivery. The tablet, which is the followup to the original Eee pad Transformer, shares many features with its illustrious predecessor.
The TF201 has a metallic spun finished aluminium design and is a mere 8.3mm thick. At 586g without its docking station, it is also quite portable. Other features include a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot, a 10.1in LED backlit 1,280 x 800 pixel Super IPS+ display with a layer of Corning Gorilla glass, an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash and a front facing 1.2-megapixel one, Wi-Fi, a microHDMI port and a 25Whr battery that can power the tablet for up to 9.5 hours.
As for the docking station, it comes with a 22Whr battery that almost doubles the battery life of the tablet, an additional USB port and an SD card reader. As expected it adds to the weight of the tablet when docked, bringing its weight to 1.12Kg.
Note that the tablet comes with Android 3.2 Honeycomb and will be upgradable to 4.0 ICS. Asus also confirmed that it will offer 8GB cloud-based storage for life. Now if only they could do that with Windows RT.
