HTC One available from £24 per month

Mobilephonesdirect is selling the HTC One on Orange for only £20.50 on a two year contract with an upfront fee of £85. That’s a total cost of ownership of £577 over the duration of the contract which translates into an effective monthly fee of £24.04.

Three plans are actually available at this cost, all geared towards light users and all having unlimited texts. You can get either 300 minutes (and no data), 200 minutes and 100MB internet allowance or 100 minutes, 500MB data allowance and 3GB BT Openzone.

The HTC One was released last month and should be available to buy by next week (roughly when the S4 is announced). It is the first smartphone to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 600 SoC, one which is clocked at 1.7GHz, has an Adreno 320 GPU and two cores.

There’s also 2GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage, Android Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0 UI, a 4.7in full HD display with a layer of Corning Gorilla glass, two front facing speakers powered by Beats technology, NFC, a 4.1-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing one and it can even be used as a remote control.
