It is worth, from time to time, visiting the online shop outlets of big brands like Sony, Asus, Apple or Fuji as you can find out some pretty amazing bargains. This is how we managed to get hold of the Asus K53E laptop for £280.
That is a pretty small price for what is on offer even if some might balk at the fact that it is a refurbished laptop (one that comes with a 12-month warranty).
The K53E runs on a second-generation (based on Sandy Bridge) Intel Core i5-2410M processor, a dual-core part that’s clocked at 2.3GHz and comes with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU.
The rest of the specification is decent for a product of that price. There’s 3GB of RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, Altec Lansing speakers, an island style keyboard, a dedicated numeric keypad, Windows 7 Home Premium, a DVD writer, a webcam, a 6-cell battery, a card reader and a weight of 2.6Kg.
When it comes to connectivity, it offers a standard set of ports. VGA, HDMI, RJ45, three USB ones plus Wi-Fi but no Bluetooth.
Asus also included a few of its own technologies like an intelligent touchpad which prevents accidental input, a premium aluminium textured chassis, IceCool technology that keeps surfaces cooler.
