Asus K55A quad-core laptop on sale for £500

Amazon is selling the Asus K55A for £500, a laptop with some great features at a price that represents a 21 per cent discount off its recommended retail price.

The notebook is powered by an Intel Core i7 3610QM processor clocked at 2.3GHz with four cores, a maximum turbo frequency of 3.3GHz, a whopping 6MB L3 cache and a TDP of 45W.

Other features include 6GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD, a DVD writer, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, Wi-Fi, a card reader, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Windows 8, a dedicated numeric keypad, a webcam but no Bluetooth (although the spec sheet mentions Bluetooth 3.0).

As for connectors, they include a HDMI port, GbE Ethernet, VGA, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 one. The K55A has an aluminium finish and according to Asus, provides a smartphone-like user experience thanks to a very fast resume from sleep that use the company’s Super Hybrid Engine II.

Asus also integrated an island style keyboard, IceCool technology, a SuperBatt Technology that have a charge-cycle lifespan that is up to three times that of normal notebooks. Check out our review of the Asus K55A laptop.
