Video: 5in, 1080p Samsung Galaxy S4 in action

All eyes in the tech world were on New York last night, as the curtain was lifted on the Galaxy S4; the smartphone now carrying the baton for mobile's hardware and software juggernauts, Samsung and Android.

Riyad Emeran reported live on proceedings in Time Square, as the South Korean firm revealed a handset bearing a striking resemblance to its Galaxy S3 predecessor, but boasting a host of new interface features that Samsung hopes will make it the phone to have in 2013.

In the video above, we get a closer look at the hardware design, as well new functions like the hands-free Air View control, the eye-tracking Smart Pause, and a bevy of camera and video recording options.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 sports a 4.99in Full HD Super AMOLED (1920x1080) display with a density of 441ppi, a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front shooter, has 2GB RAM, comes in 16, 32, or 64GB storage models with a micro SD slot for additional space, has a 2,600mAh battery, weighs 130g and runs the all-new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.
