UK supermarket Sainsburys has cut the price of the Emotion 40/69-FUSB down to £190, a drop of £60. You get £378 Nectar points as well as free delivery.
The device is perfect for those looking for an extremely affordable display (for a bedroom) and don’t care about the brand. Emotion, like Celsius, appears to be a Sainsburys only brand.
The display has a 40in diagonal and a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. Other features include Freeview tuner, a brightness of 430cd/m2, three HDMI ports, a SCART socket, digital coaxial output, “digital noise reduction”, a USB port (a rarity at this price, especially as it allows the user to record live TV), a contrast ratio of 3000@1, two 8W speakers and a DSUB connector.
It is built in Slovakia which means that it is likely to be manufactured by Vestel. Over the past few months, we’ve noticed that the average price of 42in LCD displays from big brands (Panasonic, Samsung, LG) has fallen to less than £300 while non-branded one hovered around £250.
This particular model loses 2in (or 50mm) compared to its bigger counterparts but we guess that at this price, it is worth it.
