You can now buy a 24in LCD display for under £100 including delivery at Ebuyer. The monitor, the BenQ GL2450E, has a 24in diagonal (rather than the industry-standard 23.6in), a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, a brightness of 250cd.m2, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a response time of 5ms as well as VGA and DVI-D connectors.
BenQ says that the monitor comes with an ultra-high dynamic contrast ratio of 12m:1 which, it says, adds “color depth and definition to darkened and complex motion pictures, so that everything you see, from the brightest white to the darkest black, is perfectly rendered to deliver the clearest, smoothest picture performance during movies and video games”, thanks to the Senseye Human Vision Technology.
The monitor comes with stand and a VESA mount and the bezel is, unlike a few competitors, fairly thin and unobtrusive. That said, we prefer to have a smaller (and often cheaper) computer display with a full HD resolution because everything appears so much sharper as the size of the pixel dot pitch fall down and pixel density goes up.
