We can’t praise Toshiba highly enough for the Portege Z830 Ultrabook, so much so that we’ve purchased its consumer equivalent the Satellite Z830.
Laptopoutletdirect is selling the Toshiba Portege Z830-10N Ultrabook for a mere £490 including free delivery and 490 Nectar points. The device comes with a one year warranty and you can increase that to a two year extended international extension for £30.
This Ultrabook is one of the lightest on the market at 1.12Kg. It runs on Windows 7 Home Premium, a dual-core Intel Core i3-2367M processor clocked at 1.4GHz (using Sandy Bridge technology), 4GB of RAM, 128GB onboard storage, a 13.3in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, three USB ports, HDMI, an Ethernet port, VGA, Bluetooth 3.0, a webcam, GbE LAN plus a card reader.
Its battery (when new) lasts for up to eight hours thanks partly to its SSD technology and an eight-cell battery. Other features include Dolby Advanced Audio technology, Intel HD Graphics 3000 which shares memory with the main RAM pool.
There are a couple of niggles that might be improved. This particular system needs more RAM (and you should be able to upgrade that to 8GB fairly easily). Also the LAN port needs to be redesigned as the thin stainless steel cover that protects it is fairly sharp.
