Blackberry Q10 smartphone goes on preorder for £530, ships from 26 April

Online mobile phone retailer has put the Blackberry Q10, which was announced earlier this year, on preorder for a whopping £529.98 with the first units expected to be delivered on 26 April. Both Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse (opens in new tab) have confirmed that they will be stocking the phone.

The phone is essentially the Z10 with a keyboard. It comes with a square 3.1in Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 720 pixel display with a QWERTY keyboard. Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, an 8-megapixel camera with flash, 4G/LTE connectivity, Blackberry 10 OS and a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960, a dual-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with an Adreno 225 GPU.

Still, £530 for a smartphone, any phone, is a tad expensive. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5 are the two other handsets that can command such a high price. As for the Blackberry Z10, it is available on a 12-month contract for around £41 per month and on PAYG for under £450. You can check out our brief hands on the Blackberry Q10 here.
