Today’s Top 10 Technology deals: Samsung Galaxy S3, PS Vita, O2 Super SIM, Sky TV & Broadband, Symantec Norton 360

Sky TV subscription now with a free £25 M&S voucher

Sky is currently having a limited time offer where new customers on an 18-month contract gets Sky TV for £15 a month for six month and then switch to £21.50 for another 12 months. The package includes Sky Entertainment, Sky Go, a free £25 online M&S voucher with any Sky TV Package, Sky+ box and you can get broadband for an extra £22, one that includes unlimited downloads either at home or when you’re connected to Wi-Fi hotspots from The Cloud which is now owned by Sky as well.

There are a number of terms and conditions to be noted. Setup is free, the maximum upload speed is around 1.3mbps and there’s no traffic management policy as well. Sky Broadband customers will get 12-months free subscription to McAfee antivirus.

Refurbished Sony Playstation Vita gaming console down to £110

It’s hard not to be impressed by Game’s preowned console section. Out of the various consoles, the PS Vita (Wi-Fi edition) is the one that caught our eyes. The cheapest we managed to track it down in the UK was £159 but Game sells it for £110 with free UK delivery.

You can find out more about the PS Vita in our review of Sony’s flagship portable gaming console. In comparison, the retailer sells the new version of the Vita for £195 and the console went on sale for £209 originally inn 2011. Note that you don’t need GAME voucher codes in order to benefit from these deals.

Unlimited minutes, unlimited texts for £14.50 per month with a free smartphone

Carphone Warehouse promises to give you up to £300 Cashback on all Pay Monthly Smartphones but more often than not you’re better off with an alternative deal. Although there’s one which actually delivers value for money. The retailer sells the LG Optimus L3 on a two year contract with O2 for £27 per month. That’s a total cost of ownership of £648.

But you do get an automatic £300 cashback (roughly equivalent to paying nothing for 11 months), which brings it down to £348 (that’s £14.50 per month net). You get unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data allowance (plus O2 Priority Sports and O2 Priority Moments). Shockingly enough, the equivalent SIM only deal from Carphone Warehouse with a 12 month contract costs MORE at £21 (down to £16 even when factoring a £60 cashback) while the phone itself costs £50 on PAYG.

Symantec Norton 360 available for £30

Symantec is selling its Norton 360 package for a mere £29.99 for a one year subscription which offers protection for up to three computers within the same household. That’s a 50 per cent saving off the usual selling price and it is interesting to note that a two year subscription on the same package costs a whopping £110.

Even more puzzling is the fact that Norton Antivirus which is a subset of Norton 360 is more expensive than Norton 360. Which means that buying the application is a no brainer if you want to get some added security. Compared to NAV and Norton Internet Security, Norton 360 integrates a nifty backup feature (plus 2GB online storage), parental control plus a monthly security report. We reviewed Norton Internet Security 2013 and Norton 360 v6 early last year.

Sony Xperia Tablet S down to £229

Grab the Sony Xperia Tablet S, the SGPT121GB, for as little as £229 after a £100 discount from Sony. That is a cracking price for a tablet that has only been out for six months (it was launched at IFA back in Germany last year).

The tablet replaced the ill-fated Tablet S and was hit quite early by a manufacturing snag that affected its water resistance (the tablet is supposed to be water-resistant). Already Sony has pushed out its replacement, the Xperia Tablet Z (which is essentially a bigger version of the Xperia Z smartphone without voice capabilities).

VTX3D Radeon HD 7770 Graphics card down to £81.43

Using one of the Maplin discount codes (£7 off £75), you can get a VTX3D Radeon HD 7770 X-Edition graphics card for as little as £81.43 including free delivery. This card packs a massive, oversized heatsink fan as well as AMD’s Eyenfinity multi-display, CrossFireX technology, 1GB of GDDR5 RAM clocked at 1.25GHz, PCI Express 3.0 and the GPU – a 640-core HD 7770 GPU - is manufactured on a 28nm manufacturing process and clocked at 1.1GHz. Note that this is a dual-slot graphics card that can drive up to three monitors (it has a dual-link DVI-I, HDMI and DisplayPort). Amazon, in comparison, sells it for almost £100.

Reminder: Free £20 vouchers to be had with Lovefilm trials

If you read our Netflix vs Lovefilm comparison and want to try either of them, go ahead, just bear in mind that Myvouchercodes is giving away vouchers for a 30-day trial with Amazon’s LoveFilm; note that the offer ends on 24 March and is valid only (in theory) for new customers. £20 vouchers are available for M&S while £15 vouchers apply for Amazon, Topshop and Next.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Deal: £21 per month on T-Mobile

You can get the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone on T-Mobile via Tesco Phone Shop for as little as £21 per month on a two year contract (that’s a total cost of ownership of £504). What’s more you don’t even have to pay any upfront fee. Note that you won’t get any Tesco vouchers on this deal as it is not a Tesco Mobile offer. It is worth noting that T-Mobile no longer sells the non-LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and charges an additional £210 on the same package. Shocking. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been superseded by the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched on 14 March and was on sale as Asda for as little as £338 SIM Free. Check out our review of the Samsung Galaxy S3 here.

Huawei Ascend P1 LTE is cheapest 4G LTE phone in the UK at £10.50 per month

T-Mobile sells the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE for a mere £10.50 per month on a two-year contract. That's a total cost of ownership of £252, which is less than the cheapest SIM-free price we've seen for the phone (£260 at Expansys). This means that the phone is locked to EE, Orange and T-Mobile and that you will be able to use it to access UK's only EE network for now and with a monthly outlay of £10.50, it is actually very cheap. The plan includes 50 minutes, 250 texts, 250MB data and free Wi-Fi access on the London Underground (although this is pretty useless if you don't regularly commute to London).

Acer CloudMobile smartphone on sale for £200

Expansys is selling the unlocked/SIM Free Acer CloudMobile S500 smartphone for a mere £200 including a free Krusell screen protector and a leather back cover (which is apparently worth around £43). This award winning phone – which was announced one year ago - comes with a number of features found on much more expensive smartphones and even includes a cloud service called .... AcerCloud. For a start, its display, a large 4.3in IPS model, has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixel with a zero air gap technology that reduces light reflection. There's also a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, the MSM8260A.
