After six years, blogging platform Tumblr is now home to more than 100 million blogs.
The achievement was first spotted by The Next Web, which was paying close attention to a ticker on Tumblr's "About" page, which shows how many blogs exist on the site. That counter has now crossed the 100 million mark, and continues to ratchet up.
It also shows that 44.6 billion blog posts have been created and posted on Tumblr to date. Additionally, there are some 80.2 million Tumblr posts created each day.
Back in November 2012, Tumblr boasted nearly 170 million monthly visitors worldwide. At the time, Tumblr had more than 82 million blogs, and 36.6 billion blog posts.
Tumblr introduced a new version of its iOS app, which made it easier to post photos. There were also reports recently that Tumblr is planning a mobile ad platform, which has seen a huge jump in traffic.
Tumblr isn't the only web company to hit a huge milestone in recent months. Instagram hit 100 million users in February. Meanwhile, YouTube last week announced an achievement that only few sites on the Internet have reached — one billion monthly users.
