When we saw the HP 655 laptop last month, it was available from Misco for £252 after a £100 cashback. But in just four weeks, BT Business Direct and HP have cut the price of that laptop by more than 10 per cent to a mere £213, still with that £100 cashback.
This makes of the HP 655, the cheapest Windows 8 laptop on the market by far especially as its price includes delivery (more about the cashback here).
The laptop runs on an AMD E2-1800 APU, one clocked at 1.7GHz, with two cores, 2MB cache and an integrated AMD Radeon HD GPU. It’s worth nothing that this E-series processor is slightly more powerful with an Intel Atom CPU. The rest of the specification of the HP 655 reads as follows.
4GB of RAM, 500GB hard disk drive, a DVD writer, three USB ports, a 6-cell 47Whr battery that can power the laptop for up to six hours, Bluetooth 4.0, a full size keyboard, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, Wi-Fi, a webcam, VGA, HDMI and Windows 8 Professional, which by itself is worth more than £100.
The laptop weighs 2.5Kg and is 36mm thick and is powerful enough for most mundane office tasks. Note that the HP 655 is part of HP’s small/medium business range.
