If you won’t mind buying a refurbished tablet from Apple, then check out the iPad Mini tablet, which was unveiled in October 2012 and is essentially a smaller version of the second generation Apple iPad with some improvements.
It features a dual-core Apple A5 SoC, a 7.9in 1,024 x 768 pixel LED-backlit display (which sticks to a 4:3 aspect ratio), Bluetooth 4.0, a 5-megapixel iSight camera with full HD video recording, a front facing Facetime HD camera, a 16.3Whr battery that can power the tablet for up to 10 hours, Lightning connector, Wi-Fi and AirPlay mirroring and video out to Apple TV.
Steve Jobs, the emblematic former CEO of Apple, was famously quoted as saying that there wouldn’t be a smaller version of the Apple iPad; all current models have a 9.7in diagonal.
The iPad Mini, some reckon, is Apple’s knee jerk reaction to the Google Nexus 7. Note that the tablet weighs just over 300g and is a mere 7.2mm thick. You can read our review of the Apple iPad Mini tablet here.
The only restrictions that apply to Apple Certified refurbished products is that engraving and gift wrapping are not available and supplies are by nature limited.
