BlackBerry Q10 goes on preorder at Carphone Warehouse for £579.95, £36 on pay monthly

After unlocked-mobiles, Carphone Warehouse has put BlackBerry’s Q10, the keyboard-equipped alternative to the Z10, on preorder for £579.95, that’s nearly £50 more than what Unlocked-mobiles charges. In comparison, the Apple iPhone 5 costs £529, the Samsung Galaxy S4, £518 and the Z10, £450 on pay as you go.

The handset comes with roughly the same configuration as the Z10 except for a “squarish” 3.1in touchscreen display with a 720 x 720 pixel resolution and a physical QWERTY keyboard.

The rest of the specification includes a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip, the MSM8960, clocked at 1.5GHz with 4G capabilities, a 2,100mAh battery, 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a secondary front facing camera, BlackBerry 10 OS and some clever design tricks.

The Q10 has a glass weave construction at the back which is double the strength of plastic and adds a premium feel to the device. Carphone Warehouse also offers a free mini Bluetooth stereo speaker to anyone purchasing the handset on upgrades or pay monthly contracts.
