Deal: TWO Blackberry PlayBook 16GB tablets for £146

If you don’t mind buying a refurbished tablet with a three months warranty, then Laptopsdirect which calls itself UK’s largest laptop specialist, is selling two BlackBerry Playbook tablets for only £146, that’s £73 a piece.

You must however take a trial subscription to Which? Magazine for £1 to get a £15 discount. Otherwise, the cost of each tablet, otherwise known as the P100-16WF, will be £79.99.

Laptopsdirect mentions that the PlayBook tablet on offer is in an “as new” condition with no visible signs of use. Announced back in September 2010 by BlackBerry, which was then called RIM, the PlayBook was nothing short of being revolutionary.

It failed however to capture the imagination and its high price meant that it didn’t fare as well as many would have expected. Still, it remains a very capable device.

It runs on a dual-core TI OMAP4430 SoC clocked at 1GHz, with 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 7in 1,024 x 600 pixel display, BlackBerry Tablet OS (which will be upgradable to BlackBerry 10 although no dates have been disclosed yet), a 5-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing 3-megapixel one, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a microHDMI and a microUSB port.
