Shuttle XPC Cube PC down to £40

Shuttle is a brand that no longer captures the imagination as it used to do. When the Shuttle cubic XPC brand was launched more than a decade ago, it caught the dozing world of beige boxes off-guard.

You can still recapture some of that excitement thanks to Bargain Hardware on eBay which is offering the Shuttle XPC SS59GC2, a fully configured computer for £40.

At this price though, it’s worth mentioning that there’s neither an operating system nor any guarantee. You do however get 40 Nectar points. It measures 20 x 30 x 18.5cm and weighs a mere 3.4Kg.

Other features include a single core Pentium 4 3GHz with Hyper Threading, 1GB of RAM, an 80GB hard disk drive, a SIS Real 256E Mirage graphics subsystem, a Realtek NIC, a 200W PSU, one AGP and one PCI slots, six USB 2.0 ports, two Firewire ports plus a slew of audio connectors.

Note that it doesn’t come with any optical drives as well and that, coming from an ex-corporate environment, it is likely to have a few marks and scratches on the outer casing. Nowadays, it has been superseded by the likes of the Asus Eee Box PC or the pint-sized Acer Aspire PC.
