We remember fondly last September when Nokia launched its first Windows Phone 8 handsets, the Lumia 820 and the Lumia 920. The operating system that powers them was unveiled a few weeks later.
Fast forward to April 2013 and Carphone Warehouse is selling the Nokia Lumia 520 on O2 PAYG for a mere £99.95, a price that excludes a compulsory £10 top up but includes free delivery.
That tenner gives you 75 minutes, 500 texts and 250MB data which then doubles after three months. Note that the smartphone is very likely to be unlocked, which makes it possibly the best smartphone deal on the market at the moment.
The device is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz, with 512MB of RAM, a 4in 800 x 480 pixel AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel rear camera (but no front facing one), USB, GPS, Wi-Fi, 8GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot.
As expected it does come with a few Nokia exclusive app like Cinemagraph, City Lens, Smart Shoot, Nokia Mix Radio, Nokia HERE drive and Transit.
In a nutshell, at less than £100, the only downside of the Lumia 520 is its lack of front facing camera which makes Skype usage a bit awkward.
